Amnesty International has criticised India for not prosecuting its paramilitary forces involved in gross human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir. India forces have killed nearly 100,000 people in the Kashmir valley in the past two decades and still continues to oppress Kashmiris under its Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) which its government has always been reluctant to repeal.
Due to this law, violence has escalated in Kashmir and the Indian armed forces get away with whatever crime they commit. It is time India is admonished on its human rights violations and made to quit its dream of becoming the region’s tyrannical hegemon. We should take up the matter on all international forums so that India is held accountable for its bullying behaviour.
