War of supremacy

One does not have to be a space scientist or an author to settle the issue of the war of supremacy endlessly raging between our legislative and judicial organs. This thorny issue was settled by developed countries centuries ago and that is what makes them leaders of the global village. Our parliament till today has never been sovereign and independent. The judiciary that earned its independence after the restoration of judges was challenged once again by the 18th Amendment because our lawmakers did not try to understand the spirit of the newly instituted judicial review, judicial independence and rule of law.
No institution of the state can overstep the limits set by the constitution. It is the exclusive authority of the Supreme Court to determine whether a law or amendment complies with or violates the fundamental edifice of the state. If this principle does not become our tradition Pakistan will not survive the conundrum let loose by petty politics.
