It seems the NTS has no testing expertise in geophysics. The OGDC graduate test conducted in 2014 was a mix of questions from physics and geology. Similarly, the PPL internship test also conducted in 2014 was not up-to-the-mark. Recently, the OGDC recruitment test for trainee geophysicists covered the subject but instead of focusing on the undergraduate level 20 percent weightage was given to topics such as AVO, inversion, rock physics, geomechanics and seismic attributes. None of these topics are covered at the undergraduate level at universities where geophysics programmes are conducted.
This has created a lot of controversy because not a single top undergraduate student during the last two to three years has been able to qualify the test while those who have cleared the test are MS/MPhil students.
