In a show of unity, our civil and military leadership has chaired joint meetings on security-related issues in Sindh and Balochistan. Viewed in the context of the National Action Plan, this is a positive development.
This shows that the country’s top leadership is on the same page when it comes to defeating terrorism. In addition, these meetings convey a message of solidarity with all federating units. This unanimity assures the federating units of our central leadership’s moral, practical and strategic support. After visiting Sindh, the prime minster and the army chief visited Balochistan to assess implementation of the NAP. It is reassuring that in a relatively short period, Balochistan along with KP and Punjab has trained the first batch of their anti-terror force. The PM also rightly reiterated that effective action needs to be taken to eliminate the financial, logistic and strategic support base of terrorists.
