The culture of writing among students is fast disappearing. I started writing letters three years ago when I was a student. The exercise of writing all through these years has taken me to a different world inside of me. It made my life meaningful. With every letter, I learn more because for each letter I have to craft an idea, contextualise it and then reflect on it. It drives me to act.
Two years ago, I along with some other passionate friends in Lahore launched a journal so that students could have a platform to reflect themselves through. This year its third issue is on the way. Unfortunately, our students are averse to writing. The worst part is the apathy shown by our educational institutions towards writing ventures led by students. Students should write letters to newspapers. In addition, academic institutions should also encourage writing initiatives.
