Recently, seeing an ambulance stuck in a traffic jam and then witnessing traffic wardens clearing the road within a matter of seconds unfortunately proved disappointing. Disappointing because the road was cleared not for the ambulance but for a VIP’s motorcade that had just arrived.
Where getting rid of this VIP culture seems impossible, we can at least start treating a sick man with the same degree of respect as we treat the VIP cavalcades. When the traffic can be stopped for a VIP, the same could be done for an ambulance as well. If we can wait for the VIP to pass, we will rather ‘happily’ wait for an ambulance to pass too!
