This is with reference to Irfan Zafar’s letter ‘Locally made vehicles’. Instead of easing the import of vehicles, the government should facilitate the transfer of automobile technology to Pakistan. Taxes on imported vehicles should be maintained, and the money earned from them should be spent on training local engineers and entrepreneurs to locally manufacture major parts of a car.
