It is sad to note that the government has not taken this grave tragedy as a serious emergency. No government representative – the president, the prime minister or the Sindh chief minister – bothered to visit the factory or the families of the victims. One can only hope that the unfortunate families are compensated – both by the government as well as the factory owners, who are still at large.

Similarly, one also hopes that the investigation to find out the causes of the fire is conducted honestly and those found responsible are caught and given exemplary punishment.

*****

The Karachi fire incident has saddened the entire nation. More than 200 families have lost their breadwinners. May Allah bless the departed souls and give patience to the bereaved families.

It is the gravest fire tragedy in our country’s history but our chief executive, the prime minister, preferred to stay in China and did not rush back to Karachi. Had it been any other country, I am sure the head of the government would have reached the accident site without any delay.
