The PPP governments’ scheme of giving away cash to individuals from the national exchequer in the form of alms is a blatant way of pre-poll rigging and should have been checked by the Supreme Court right at the outset. To me it seems in all constituencies as many BISP cards have been issued to illiterate voters as are enough to push the ruling party’s candidate first past the post and win the seat.
The Election Commission should immediately implement the runoff polls condition so we don’t get another parliament like the present one after the upcoming elections. If any one reform can make a change in the new elections it would be the runoff polls system.
