What brings Pakistani political parties on one page? What is common, for example, between the ANP and the PML-Q? Similarly what brings the PTI of Imran Khan and the AML of Sheikh Rashid together?

I shall urge everyone, especially scholars, to do research on this subject and educate ordinary people like myself on the history of alliance formation in Pakistani politics and the factors contributing to these alliances.

Sheikh Rashid has been facing harsh criticism for his decision to join the PTI. The alliance between the PTI and Sheikh Rashid’s Awami Muslim League is being criticised because of the comments Imran Khan and Sheikh Rashid had made about each other in the past. The PPP and the PML-N are two rival parties and their leaders have been involved in verbal and actual fights on many occasions.

Didn’t these parties come together and signed the Charter of Democracy? In politics, there are no enemies. The PML-N rules Punjab while the PPP forms the federal government. If these two parties can work together then any coalition is possible.
