This refers to a thought-provoking and incisive article ‘Yours conspiratorially’ by Babar Sattar (July 28). Sattar termed $62 million a paltry amount which, in the view of many, is not worth derailing the democratic system. This amount may be paltry for some, but the basic issue here is that of supremacy of rule of law and holding the guilty to account.
Should the corrupt be allowed to get off scot-free? Should a sham democracy be allowed to flourish as the country’s economy collapses and it heads towards becoming a failed state? Should rule of law be compromised to save an incompetent dispensation?
