This refers to two articles – Farrukh Saleem’s comment titled ‘Caretakers’ and Barrister Waqqas Mir’s write-up ‘Temptation to make history’ – which appeared in The News on Sunday (July 22). Saleem’s assertion that the PPP and the PML-N are not against each other and are actually protecting their respective dhaaras or heaps of voters strengthens Imran Khan’s mantra of nurakushti (fake wrestling). This to me is a casual observation on the part of Saleem. As for the line of argument Mir took in his article, in my opinion, it can add fuel to the ongoing confrontation between the two powerful organs of the state.

My chief concern in the present situation is a peaceful transfer of power which has never taken place in this land of ours. With the rising political temperature, the probability of fair and credible elections shrinks.
