It was unfortunate that Chris Cork chose to declare, in his column “An uneasy head”, that early elections may catch PTI “wrong-footed and unprepared even after 16 years” in terms of having no detailed policies. He has obviously not been reading about our extensive seminars on policy including energy and local government policies held recently. Nor has he examined our website for our manifesto and constitution which would also help him understand our policies very clearly. We are now in the process of putting out our new manifesto. But that is not the issue. It does not take reams of paper to understand what our policies will be. After all such reams have been covered by the PPP and the PML-N but these have not seen the light of day in terms of operationalisation! In contrast, Imran Khan has continuously explained in all his public speeches how he will eliminate corruption – and the process does not need even a full A4 sheet to be understood. It is quality not quantity that is important.
As for being unprepared for elections, again Mr Cork seems to have missed the PTI’s repeated calls for early elections, so a demand by our opponents for the same will certainly not catch us off guard. The tsunami is there for all to see but those wearing blinkers. Mr Cork you want to see the PTI Tsunami’s impact check out the jalsas from Oct 30 onwards right up to Faisalabad on Wednesday or follow the next one live. Sometimes it serves no purpose to hide away in Never Never Land and away from the reality of the PTI people’s Tsunami. It is gaining in strength and you cannot wish it away! We are prepared for elections any time because the people are with us.
