I frequently travel on the Rafiqui Shaheed Road and have observed that this road remains choked most of the time because of traffic jams especially near the main entrance of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases. There are three major hospitals on this road – the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, the National Institutes of Child Health and the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases – while the Kidney Centre is also located there.

A large number of patients who visit these hospitals, particularly those who are brought to the emergency departments, face severe difficulties in reaching the hospitals while some are reported to have breathed their last in ambulances waiting for the traffic jams to clear. The authorities concerned are requested to take notice of this serious situation and solve this longstanding problem.
