On Sunday morning, I and my family started our journey from Lahore to Gujrat to attend a wedding ceremony. The traffic came to a halt when we reached Sadhoke as demonstrators protesting against loadshedding had blocked the entire road. Youngsters of ages 10-15, holding sticks and rods, shouting slogans and burning tyres, were also part of the protest. They were being controlled by a few adults. We were able to move forward after an hour, only to stop again at Kamoke. The driver pulled the car to the other side of the road under a tree to wait for the protest to end. While we were waiting, I noticed a man in white clothes driving a white car, recording the scenes with a camera. I could see that there was no police, not even traffic police, present on the road. It was clearly a staged demonstration where youngsters were getting instructions on their phones. We had to drive back to Lahore after waiting at Kamoke for three hours.
