KARACHI: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has disconnected the PCB-owned National Stadium’s water connections for failure to pay Rs8 million.
It has caused problems for the administration because qualifying round matches of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy are being played these days, ‘The News’ has learnt.
The NSK and KWSB have this longstanding issue on the dues as the officials of KWSB suspected that they had more than two connections.
The NSK management claimed that one of its water connections had been damaged when a flyover was being constructed nearby.
Sources said that KWSB officials cut the connection on the orders of “the KWSB MD who is working hard” to strengthen the financial position of the board. The institutions that are financially sound but still not paying the dues of KWSB for a long time are being targeted in this drive. The sources said that KWSB has constituted a high-level inquiry committee to review the matter. It will ascertain how many water connections NSK has and how many of them are old.
