KARACHI: Pakistan team for World Youth Scrabble Championship, which will be held in Perth from October 31, was announced on Monday.
The squad has Mariam Arif, Ahmed Abdullah Abassi, Taha Mirza, Syed Mirza, Hassan Hadi, Hammad Hadi, Ali Rashid, Danial Sanaullah, Absar Mustajab and Hamza Shaikh.
The team was announced by Tariq Pervez at the sidelines of Pakistan Scrabble Championship organised by Pakistan Scrabble Association (PSA) at Karachi Expo Centre.
According to a press statement, 764 players participated in this event, making it the biggest scrabble tournament in Southeast Asia and the second largest scrabble tournament in the world.
“Players as young as six and as old as 70 were competing,” it said. “Over 100 schools from Karachi took part. For the first time, players from all four provinces as well as the federal capital flew in to Karachi to compete.”
