KARACHI: Pakistan junior hockey team chief coach Olympian Tahir Zaman has said that PHF had promised that all facilities would be provided for the junior team’s training.
Talking to ‘The News’ on Thursday after PHF released the names of the probable players for the Sultan of Johor Junior Hockey Tournament, he said PHF had prepared an extensive training plan for the juniors.
“There will be three phases of the training; during the first phase we will emphasise physical fitness because the junior boys have not been active for one year. During this first phase, 70 percent training will aim at high level of fitness and 30 percent on game development.
“When players achieve a certain level of fitness, we will start the second phase in which game development and physical fitness will get equal time and attention. “And in the last phase it will be 70 percent game training and 30 percent physical fitness,” said the newly-appointed chief coach.
Tahir said the training camp would be continued till the departure for Malaysia for the five-nation tournament.
“PHF knows that the junior team is the future of Pakistan hockey and we have to qualify for the Junior Hockey World Cup 2016. And we will go in the Junior Asia Cup 2015 next month with our full strength as it is the qualifying round for the Junior World Cup,” he said.
