KARACHI: Prof Ijaz Farooqui has resigned from the position of KCCA president, claiming that he did this to save the association from an ad hoc setup by PCB.
He dispatched his resignation to PCB headquarters in Lahore on Monday.
There have been rumours that the PCB might set up an ad hoc body to run Karachi’s cricket affairs.
The KCCA president said that he had only two options: either to accept the PCB decision and send only one team of Karachi for playing under new format or resigns as KCCA president to raise voice against “this injustice”.
Farooqui said that he tried to save the democratic system and hoped that the new president of KCCA would work for the betterment of Karachi’s cricket.
He said that his association with the game would continue and that he was always ready to serve the game.
He thanked the KCCA officials, executive body members and zonal officials for supporting him, especially during the recent crisis.
