KARACHI: Pakistan batsman Mukhtar Ahmed rocketed 199 places to 25th in the ICC Player Rankings for T20I Batsmen after impressive showings against visitors Zimbabwe in the recent two-match series.
Mukhtar won player of the match awards in both the games for his scores of 83 and 62, playing a pivotal for Pakistan in both the thrilling encounters.
Hamilton Masakadza has returned to the top 10. Masakadza scored 43 and 39, which helped him move up four places to ninth in the latest rankings.
Other Zimbabwe batsmen to improve their rankings were Elton Chigumbura (31st — up by 16 places), Sean Williams (65th — up by 21 places), Vusi Sibanda (80th — up by eight places) and Sikandar Raza (106th — up by eight places).
India’s Virat Kohli leads the pack, followed by Australia’s Aaron Finch and Alex Hales of England.
In the bowlers’ list, Christopher Mpofu has returned in 58th spot, while Sean Williams is 80th (up by 19 places) and Shoaib Malik is 82nd (up by 21 places).
Samuel Badree of the West Indies is the top ranked bowler, followed by his team-mate Sunil Narine and Sachithra Senanayake of Sri Lanka. Shakib Al Hasan leads the all-rounders’ list, but Shahid Afridi has slipped one place to fourth.
