KARACHI: After being defeated in the limited-overs series, Pakistan will be aiming to change their fortunes when they go head to head with hosts Bangladesh in a two-Test series in Khulna from Tuesday (tomorrow) and maintain their rankings.
Pakistan are sitting at fourth position with 103 points while Bangladesh are at ninth spot on 32 points.
This gap of 71 ratings points means Pakistan are expected to win the series convincingly, and because the rankings are weighted to reflect this difference, failure to win comfortably will mean Misbah-ul-Haq’s side will drop points.
If the series ends in a draw, then Pakistan will slump to 99 points while Bangladesh will finish on 37 points, and Pakistan will plummet to 96 ratings points if Bangladesh win the series 1-0.
If Pakistan win the series 1-0, they will concede one point while they will gain only one point if they win both Tests.
In the ICC Test Player Rankings, Pakistan boasts two batsmen inside the top 10 with Younis Khan at 8th position and Misbah at 10th, while Bangladesh’s highest-ranked batsman is Mominul Haque at 25th spot. Saeed Ajmal (11th) and Junaid Khan (16th) are Pakistan bowlers inside the top-20, while Shakib Al Hasan in at 13th position.
