KARACHI: The first day’s play of the three-day semi-finals of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II was abandoned due to rain in Punjab on Monday.
Not a single delivery was bowled in the semi-final between Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and K-Electric at Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot.
A team source told ‘The News’ that the ground was inundated.
“There was heavy rain the whole Sunday night. Today there was slight sun-shine but I don’t think the match will become possible,” the source said.
“We were told by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that the players would remain there till the last day. If it is possible to play on the last day then a 25-overs-a-side game will be held. Otherwise the game will be played in other dates,” the source said.
The same was the fate of the other last-four clash between Khayaban-e-Amin and Omar Associates at LCCA Ground, Lahore.
A team source said that there was chance of play on Tuesday (today).
“Although there is some water near the boundary line, if there is sunshine tomorrow then play could be made possible after lunch,” the source said.
