KARACHI: Pakistan’s biggest pool that is being built at Maritime Museum for the first ever dolphin shows in the country would be used for water sports later, a navy officer told ‘The News’.
He said that they had plans to hold different water sports at the pool as this would be one of the best facility available in the city. “Pakistan Navy will surely hold some events here at the pool once the dolphin show is over. We haven’t decided yet what to include in the sports events, but there will be many competitions, for sure,” he added.
He further said since the pool had a depth of 14 feet it could be used for deep diving events. “We at Pakistan Navy feel the responsibility to further water sports activities in the country, so this biggest pool of the country will become one of the precious stops for water sports,” he added.
On the other hand, Chief Executive Talent Broker International (TBI) Syed Mustafa Kamal told this scribe that they would hand over the pool after their dolphin show probably in December. “We are developing on our own the biggest pool of the country with the specifications of 14 feet deep and 80x50 feet in dimension,” he said.
After that, he added, the pool would be handed over to the Maritime Museum. “Actually the land we are developing this pool on is of Pakistan Navy, so we have taken it on rent,” he said, adding that they have to develop this pool as per the agreement.
“Navy wants to organise some competitions and to use the pool for training purposes. Therefore, we will hand over it to them once we are finished with our shows,” he said.
Kamal further said that they might extend their 60-day dolphin shows up to 120 days, depending on the response from the public. The handover of the pool would take place accordingly, he said. At present 40 percent work of the pool development has been completed, Kamal added.
