Eight people were killed and many got injured when two bombs went off near a Bohri community centre in the Hyderi area of Karachi. It may not be always possible for law-enforcement agencies to detect bombs or improvised explosive devices, especially if they are planted in crowded and busy areas. In this regard, people can play an important role by remaining vigilant and observant.
It may be recalled that on May 1, 2010 in New York, the attempt to bomb the Times Square was foiled when two street vendors spotted smoke coming out of a vehicle and immediately alerted the police. If we see anything suspicious in our surroundings, we should immediately inform the police which will take necessary action or call the bomb disposal squad.
