A police head constable was among four people gunned down in separate incidents in the city on Monday.
Thirty-five-year-old Sikander Ali, a Sindh Reserve Police head constable posted at the Ferozabad police station, was murdered near Khyber Gate in Metroville, SITE.
SITE-A SHO Rao Rafiq said the victim was heading towards a mosque near his house to offer Asr prayers, when two men on a motorcycle sprayed him with bullets.He was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The deceased suffered seven bullet wounds on various parts of his body.
The police found empty bullet shells of 30-bore pistol at the murder scene.The SHO said the slain constable was presently performing duties as a security guard for the owner of the Baig Textile Mill.
Party supporter shot dead
A man was shot dead and another injured near Dawood Chowrangi in Quaidabad.The area’s SHO, Amanullah Marwat said Umer Fahim and his friend Akbar were heading towards Sharafi Goth on their motorcycles in the evening when two men on a motorcycle opened fire on them.
They were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where Fahim succumbed to his injuries, while Akbar managed to survive.The deceased suffered two bullet wounds. The police found empty bullet casings of 9mm pistol at the murder spot.
Investigators said Fahim was a supporter of a political party. Both men were residents of Sharafi Goth and hailed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Cop kills youth
A police constable accidently killed a youth in the Mohammad Pur area.Mohammed Pur Police Post In-charge Fayyaz Qureshi said police constable Syed Ikhlaq Hussain, who was performing duties as a VIP’s security guard, was headed towards his home in MPR Colony, Orangi Town, when a few minutes before Iftar time, some men tried to snatch his weapon. He opened fire on them, but he accidently hit a passer-by, 17-year-old Saddam Hussain Khan. The youth suffered a single wound and died during treatment at the JPMC.
When an enraged mob tried to beat up the constable, he tried to take shelter at the Mohammed Pur Police Post. The mob attacked the police post and demanded custody of the constable. However, more policemen arrived there and brought the situation under control.The police post in-charge said the constable had been taken into custody and a case filed at the Peerabad police station.
Man killed at ASF Ground
A man was shot dead at the ASF Ground near Pehlwan Goth.Airport SHO Ashraf Khan said the body was shifted to the JPMC.Preliminary investigations revealed that some men on motorcycles were chasing the victim from Pehlwan Goth. They finally got hold of him at the ASF Ground, where they shot him. The SHO said the deceased had suffered two bullet wounds on his upper torso. The police found empty pistol bullet shells at the crime scene. The victim could not be identified by the time this report was filed.
