Jamaat asks govt to increase nurses’ wages By our correspondent Karachi The women wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) demanded that the government accept the demand of higher wages by the nursing staff.In a statement issued on Friday, the JI’s women wing condemned the manhandling and thrashing of the nursing staff while they were demonstrating for higher pays. Calling it a shameful act, a wing representative said, “Punitive action should be taken against policemen who misbehaved with the nurses during the protest.”
Bid to emigrate illegally foiled By our correspondent Karachi The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) arrested 149 illegal migrant workers near the coastal area of Gwadar on Friday.PCG officials intercepted several vehicles and took into custody 122 Aghan nationals and 27 Pakistanis who were travelling towards the Gulf states via Iran. The detainees have been handed over to the FIA for further interrogation.
