IJT protest against anti-Islam film in Karachi

KARACHI: Activists of Islami Jamiat e Talaba (IJT) held a protest demonstration near the US consulate against the anti-Islam film, while police opened aerial firing and used tear shells to disperse the demonstrators.

Traffic routes from PIDC to US consulate had been blocked following the announcement of IJT to hold the protest.

Police started teargas shelling and aerial firing when the protesters reached PIDC, however participants of demo managed to reach US consulate.

Protesters pelted policemen with stones while police used teargas shelling. Police also detained several demonstrators.
