FALLUJAH: Gunmen attacked the home of a local anti-terrorism officer west of Baghdad on Tuesday, killing two family members and two guards, security and medical officials said.
The gunmen, wearing military uniforms, attacked Captain Jawad Shaalan's home in Al-Garma, a security official said, adding that they executed his brother, son and two guards.
A medical source at a local hospital confirmed receiving four bodies from the attack.
Shaalan, who heads a local anti-terrorism unit, was not home at the time of the attack.
A police officer also said that three soldiers and a policeman were wounded by three roadside bombs in Al-Garma.
The violence comes after a wave of deadly attacks, claimed by Al-Qaeda's front group, killed more than 80 people and wounded more than 400 on Saturday and Sunday.
Though violence in Iraq is down compared to its peak in 2006 and 2007, attacks remain common. (AFP)
