Gilani's post-disqualification actions protected

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Zradari has issued an ordinance to give constitutional protection to decisions made by former PM Gilani from 26th April to 19th June, Geo News reported.

According to the ordinance these decisions could not be challenged in any court. The ordinance also gives protection to the agreements made between Pakistan Government and other countries.

The Supreme Court on June 19 disqualified Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani as the prime minister in its short order of the NA Speaker ruling case.

"Yousuf Raza Gilani is disqualified from membership of parliament from April 26, the date of his conviction. He has also ceased to be the prime minister of Pakistan," said chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, reading the order.
